Nursery Settings
The EYFS Early Learning Goals are achieved by providing the children with opportunities to have a wide range of adult led and child led focused activities which will develop a positive sense of self and others, respect for others and social skills, emotional well-being and a disposition to learn. The classrooms are organized such that the children have access to a wide range of resources enabling their overall development. The common area on the first floor provides children with further opportunities for focused themed activities as well the reading area where the children will be able to explore books, and construction activities further developing their Early Learning Goals. The soft play area outdoors provides children opportunities for physical play in a safe and secure environment, to develop their co-ordination and fine motor skills and to enjoy the health benefits of being outdoors.
- Sand play promotes physical development. Large muscle skills develop as children dig, pour, sift, scoop, and clean up spills with brush and dustpan. Eye-hand coordination and small muscle control improve as children learn to manipulate sand accessories. Sand play also promotes social skills.
- The playing area ignites curiosity in children, enthusiasm for learning through physical development and helps to build their capacity to learn and form relationships.
- Planting seeds, digging in soil and pulling out weeds gets little hands covered in dirt, and dirt is good for kids! Gardening connects children to nature. It teaches children important lessons on life – how to grow, care for them etc.
- Children will be able to explore and share thoughts and feelings through art, imaginative and role play activities.
